Providing event security for the Police Bravery Awards

What it takes to secure an event where the guests are the people who normally do the securing.

We provided event security for the Police Bravery Awards, the annual event that recognises officers who have shown extraordinary courage, often at genuine risk to themselves.

Our team covered the venue, managed crowd flow and staffed access points, so that the people attending could concentrate on why they were there.

Why an event like this needs it

The Bravery Awards bring together serving officers, senior police leadership, community figures and press into one room on a published date. That combination attracts attention, and it deserves a security plan built for it rather than a standard function package.

It also carries an obligation most events do not. When your guests are the people who spend their working lives protecting others, the standard you are held to is theirs.

What we did

  • Assessed the venue and its approaches before the day
  • Staffed and controlled every access point
  • Managed crowd flow through arrival, the ceremony and departure
  • Held a command structure with named roles throughout

The event ran without incident. That is the outcome you want from event security and it is also the hardest one to demonstrate afterwards, which is rather the point of writing it down.
